CAPES 4 : Spiral Curriculum

First have a look at this note. Now look at the Table des Matières of a collège textbook for 6e - the same one you looked at when we talked about Functions perhaps. Now compare this with the similar pages of a textbook for 3e, for 2e and for Te. If you look at what is being presented under the different headings, what do you notice? Now take a lesson on any function that interests you - perhaps each member of your work-group could take a different function - and look through the textbooks for each level and see whether the same one is covered by all of them. If it is, then compare the lessons for each level. What do you notice?

In any one class, pupils will vary in their position along the spiral. How do you think you can deal with this?
